Unfortunately I couldn't meet Haseena Parkar: Shraddha Kapoor on Haseena, Saaho, Prabhas and more

Reel Life Haseena Parkar, Shraddha Kapoor talks about the film and why she feels she will get along well with Prabhas

After playing the girl next door characters in films like Ek Villain, OK Jaanu, Baaghi and ABCD 2, Shraddha Kapoor is gearing up for the release of Haseena Parkar, wherein she would essay the character of underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. After three consecutive failures at the Box-Office, Kapoor is hopeful that the audience would like to see her in a different avatar and had no apprehension to sign on for the film.

In an interview with us, Kapoor revealed that she discusses her work with Shakti Kapoor and is always in two minds before taking a step forward. The actress also spoke about her upcoming mega-budget action entertainer, Saaho, starring Prabhas in lead.

Excerpts:

What made you come on board for Haseena Parkar?

It’s very different from what I have done before and it was very emotionally draining to essay this particular character. It was indeed interesting to explore this space.

Did you do any sort of research on the character?

My director was so much into the research of this film, that he was well equipped with the entire setup. His research helped us do the job to the best of our ability. He has met Haseena Parkar many times and we had a director who had already done his homework. I was excited to see him so involved. He narrated several stories about Haseena which helped us understand how she was as a person. I just wish I met her, as that would have been a different experience. But she passed away, so, unfortunately, I couldn’t meet her. I spent sometime with her family and that helped me a lot.

Did you discuss this film with Shakti Kapoor before signing on for the same?

I discuss every film with my mom and dad. My dad just asks me to do films I believe in.

Were you apprehensive at any point in time to take up this character given the fact that you play the character of a mother in the film?

I have a lot of self-doubts. The belief of my director helps me a lot. I often keep thinking if I could pull that off or no. So yes, there is apprehension, but I need a push from someone to get going.

Is there a double role for you in Saaho? How excited are you to work with Prabhas in the film?

No, that is not true. I don’t have a double role in Saaho. I was in Hyderabad right now for two days to rehearse with Prabhas. I met him for the first time here and I was taken aback by how grounded and humble he is. The first question he asked me was are you hungry. I am sure that I will get along with him so well because he asked me about food.

Haseena Parkar is slated to release on September 22.
