One of the biggest takeaways of this movie was the father-daughter portrayed on the screen. Aamir’s rendition of Mahavir Singh Phogat and how he let go off his fatherly emotions to turn into a coach was impeccable. Apart from Aamir, the entire cast of the movie was nothing short of perfect. Child actors Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar and the grown-up girls Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra, all were praised for their performances.

Chances are that if you have watched the movie, you too went home impressed by them.

But did you know that the connection between real Phogat sisters–Babita and Geeta with Aamir Khan started three years ago? The Phogat sisters had made an appearance on the show hosted by Aamir Satyamev Jayate in one of the episodes.

On the episode, they told Aamir how their father Mahavir believed in them and helped them became world class wrestlers. The sisters also revealed that in the beginning, their family was subject to brickbats by the society for attempting such a thing, since wrestling was a sport deemed fit for men. Geeta and Babita also revealed how strict their father was and it was his dedication that helped them achieve all they could.

Their friendly banter will make you smile in this video:

It has to be given to the makers of Dangal that they managed to capture the Phogat story quite brilliantly.
