Will Kamya Punjabi be jailed for releasing Pratyusha Banerjee's short film?

After watching the teaser of the film, Pratyusha Banerjee's boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh claimed that the video is fake and is an attempt to tarnish his image

Popular TV actress Kamya Punjabi might have landed herself in legal trouble for releasing a short film featuring late actress Pratyusha Banerjee. Titled Hum Kuch Keh Na Sake, the 18-minute long video features Pratyusha in the lead role. The film shows her struggle with depression and how a failed relationship drove her to commit suicide.

The story is very much similar to that of Pratyusha’s real life and the name of the male lead in the film is Rahul, which is also the name of Pratyusha’s boyfriend. And after watching the teaser of the film, her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh claimed that the video is fake and is an attempt to tarnish his image.

After which Rahul took a legal step and moved to court asking for a stay order on the release of the film. Not only this, Rahul has also filed a defamation case against Kamya Punjabi and has also demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore from the makers. The court granted the order and asked the makers to not release it till they record their statements. But unaffected by all this, Pratyusha’s close friend Kamya went ahead and released the film.

Well, it looks like this decision can putKamya in deep trouble, as she could be jailed for 6 months for going against the court’s order. According to a report in DNA, Rahul’s lawyer said that Kamya is lying about not receiving a copy of the order, as her maid had signed on its receipt. He further added: Kamya can be jailed for 6 months for contempt of Court. She is not understanding the gravity of the Court order.

Pratyusha Banerjee, who became a household name after her stint in popular TV show Balika Vadhu, committed suicide last year on April 1. And seeing the late actress in Hum Kuch Keh Na Sake only makes us feel nostalgic. Here’s a look at the film:
