Baahubali 2 Box Office: The SS Rajamouli film is now the highest grossing film in Karnataka

Baahubali 2 has set a new record at the Karnataka Box Office. This is special considering the film had a tough release in following Kattappa controversy

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali : The Conclusion is on a record breaking spree. After becoming the all-time highest Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam opener, the Kannada dubbed version of the film has too created the same record at the Karnataka Box Office. The film, a sequel to the SS Rajamouli’s 2015 blockbuster Baahubali: The Beginning features Telugu superstar Prabhas and Anushka Shetty in lead roles.

On its opening day, Baahubali 2 has raked in Rs 11 crore at the Karnataka Box Office which is almost double of the opening day collections of Baahubali 1 at the Karnataka Box Office. On Monday, with the opening weekend collections of Baahubali 2, it has been confirmed as the SS Rajamouli starrer has emerged as the all-time highest opener at the Karnataka Box Office.

Reportedly, Baahubali 2 has minted Rs 47 crore at the Sandalwood Box Office. It’s a new record as none of the Kannada films have managed to record more than Rs 45 crore at the Karnataka Box Office. The SS Rajamouli film also unseats Kannada superstar Puneeth Raajakumar’s recent blockbuster Raajakumara to do the same.

This also means that Baahubali 2 has all the chances to become the first Rs 100 crore grosser of Kannada film industry.

It should be noted that a few section of Kannadigas were planning to boycott the film prior to the release following Sathyaraj aka Katappa’s hatred speech. However, seems like the apology from the actor two days before the film’s release has worked in its favour.
