Surveen Chawla: Born on July 16, 1984, Surveen is a Punjabi actress, dancer, and model, and considered to be one of the hottest in the Punjabi film industry. She made her Punjabi debut with Dharti in 2011 and apart from working in the regional films, she also took the Bollywood film industry by storm with her film Hate Story 2 (2014). In the film, the actress grabbed headlines for her bold scenes.
Neeru Bajwa: Neeru Bajwa: Born on August 26, 1980, Neeru is a Canadian-born Punjabi actress. She started her acting career with Dev Anand’s Bollywood film Main Solah Baras Ki. She, then, moved on to work in Hindi television soaps and Punjabi films, making her Punjabi debut with Asa Nu Maan Watna Da. Neeru is one of the finest actresses of Punjabi cinema. She also shared the screen with Punjabi heartthrob Diljit Dosanjh in Jatt & Juliet (2012).
Simran Kaur Mundi: Miss India Universe 2008, Simran, made her first appearance in Bollywood with Kuku Mathur ki Jhand ho Gayi (2014). She is best known for her Punjabi role in Best of Luck (2013). The actress, who also played one of the three wives in Kapil Sharma’s Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon once explained why many models turned to acting. She said: “I think that if modeling is school, then acting is college! It’s more fulfilling. But I feel that acting cannot be taught. You have to just be true to the emotions and try and self-improve. Like I cannot cry spontaneously, so I had to train a lot in that.”
Sonam Bajwa: Making her Bollywood debut with Best of Luck, the actress also played the leading female role in 2014 blockbuster Punjabi film Punjab 1984. She is popular for hot and glamorous roles in her films. The actress also participated in Femina Miss India contest in 2012. Though she is a well-known face of Punjabi films, she still awaits her Bollywood debut. Talking about the same, Sonam once revealed: “I just want to do a good film. Sometimes you get scripts, which aren’t worthy of doing. I don’t have a closed mind with the thought that I just want to do a particular kind of film. I want to do something that makes me comfortable.”
Ginni Kapoor: Best known for her hot and glamorous looks, Ginni appeared in many famous Punjabi songs as well as Punjabi films. Her parents actively supported her in her acting career. She appeared in Happy Raikoti’s most popular song Anna Zor.
Navneet Kaur Dhillon: Representing India at Miss World 2013, Navneet is now an Indian actress and model. She made her Punjabi debut with Ambarsariya and also worked in Bollywood film Love Shhuda opposite Girish Kumar. During an interaction, she was asked what she would regret if she were to die the following day, to which she replied: “The only thing I would regret would be not having done as much for society as I would like to. Issues of women’s empowerment and child labour and other social evils are a big concern.”
Japji Khaira: She is a Punjabi actress and hails from Australia. She won the title Miss World Punjaban 2006, held on 16 December in Ludhiana. Japji made her debut with the movie Mitti Wajaan Maardi opposite Harbhajan Maan. She also featured in the film Fer Mamla Gadbad Gadbad in a lead role.
Kainaat Arora: She is an Indian model turned actress and has been featured in Bollywood as well as Punjabi films, making her Bollywood debut with Grand Masti. Kainaat worked in Punjabi film Faraar in 2015 alongside Gippy Grewal.
