Priyanka Chopra’s Response To Wearing Harvey Weinstein’s Ex-Wife’s Brand Is Woke AF

Many criticised PeeCee's decision to don a label which had links to disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein.

Priyanka Chopra wore a gorgeous feathered gown by Marchesa on her bridal shower at Tiffany & Co’s Blue Box Cafe on Sunday. The glowing bride-to-be looked stunning in the white strapless Marchesa ensemble.

Now, as much as the fashionistas swiped right to the fabulous gown by Georgina Chapman’s label, many criticised PeeCee’s decision to don a label which had links to disgraced Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein.

Harvey and Georgina were married for a decade before their divorce came through in January 2018. Georgina filed for divorce after multiple celebrities from Hollywood called out Harvey’s predatory nature and repeated sexual misconduct which eventually led to the kickstart of the #MeToo revolution.

In her response to wearing longtime friend, Marchesa’s label, Priyanka claimed it was ‘the right choice.’

While speaking to WWD, she said,

“Georgina’s a friend of mine, and she has been. And it’s not her fault. And I don’t think it’s right to take it out on a self-made woman what somebody in her life did,” she added. “That’s the wrong attitude. I’ve known her for years, and that was a beautiful gown, and deserved to be worn by a bride-to-be. And it made me feel like a princess. It was the right choice.”

Before Priyanka, Scarlett Johansson was pulled up for wearing a Marchesa outfit to Met Gala. The ‘Black Widow’ was forced to defend her decision to wear the label. Later, in a statement, Johansson told People that she ‘wore Marchesa because their clothes make women feel confident. And beautiful and it is my pleasure to support a brand created by two incredibly talented and important female designers.’
