Priyanka Chopra's Quantico to return for shorter season 3 with new showrunners

Priyanka Chopra's Quantico has been renewed for season 3 after its fiery season 2 finale. However, showrunner Josh Safran will be replaced for the next season.

Priyanka Chopra’s Alex Parrish is the latest iconic strong female lead headlining a series in America. ABC’s crime drama thriller series Quantico aired its season 2 finale last night and it left fans a little out of sorts. Not because the episode was bad ’cause honestly, it was its best one yet. Fans were a little distraught over the fact that the season finale looked very much like a series finale. With Alex gone missing and she and Ryan sharing a touchy-feely moment, it seemed as if the showrunners were trying to say goodbye.

Fret not. Quantico has been renewed for season 3 after its fiery season 2 finale. However, the show’s creator Josh Safran will be stepping down for the next season. However, the showrunner will be present as a consulting producer. As of now, no new showrunner has been appointed but, it feels that ABC decided to go for the change amid falling ratings.

The show has been struggling ever since it was moved to Monday nights earlier. Averaging 4.6 million viewers, Quantico only managed to get a 1.3 rating from the age group 18-49. In spite of the show losing popularity, the show is managing to stay afloat owing to its political storyline in season 2, a streaming deal with Netflix and of course, Priyanka freaking Chopra!

Quantico’s season 2 focused on more political issues as opposed to its first season.

Another change in Quantico‘s season 3 is that this season is going to be a lot shorter. While the previous two seasons consisted of 24 episodes each, the upcoming season will be featuring 13 episodes.

Also starring Jake McLaughlin, Aunjanue Ellis, Yasmine Al Massri, Johanna Braddy, Graham Rogers, Russell Tovey and Blair Underwood, the show’s next season will most probably be its last. However, that is not a worrisome matter for Priyanka as the actress already has her Hollywood debut Baywatch coming out soon. She is also in talks for another movie out in the west titled A Kid Like Jake, which also stars Jim Parsons, Octavia Spencer and Claire Danes.
