Padmavati: Ranveer Singh doesn't like much scrutiny in relationships, and 4 other interesting statements he made

Ranveer Singh talked about Padmavati and mentioned how is he preparing for his character. He also revealed how thrilled he is to be playing a negative role.

The humongous sets, flamboyant scale and intense story line can leave anybody in awe of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. And this time, it is our very own exuberant and gutsy actor, Ranveer Singh. During an interview with mid-day, Ranveer said that he is extremely thrilled about his upcoming period-drama film Padmavati alongside his lady love Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor. The actor, who has previously given two blockbuster hits in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015), is elated that the filmmaker chose him to essay the role of brutal ruler Alauddin Khilji. The actor made four remarks that are the highlights of the interview:

On his equation with Sanjay Leela Bhansali:

The other day, I was missing Sanjay sir tremendously, so I went to meet him. He told me what he had lined up the next schedule and I was blown. I can’t wait to get back.

On his extensive preparation to play Alauddin Khilji :

I have devoted several days to the prep of Padmavati. It is a highly consuming character. I have to go into the 1300s. It’s daunting getting into the mould, the styling and mannerisms knowing Sanjay sir’s eye for details. I am living it the way he has visualized the character.

On his preference to stay isolated:

Sanjay sir does not expect me to do it; this will help me stay focused. I have got a place close to the set. It is like being on an outdoor shoot. I prefer to stay in my own zone with no family around and not be in touch with too many people.

On his personal on-off equation with Deepika:

I have learnt to take it in my stride. I prefer to focus on the personal aspects of the profession. At the same time, this falls in the realm of personal space, so I don’t like to encourage too much scrutiny.
