Mimi Chakraborty & Nusrat Jahan Have Become Elected MPs Now, But The Trolls Won't Stop

Mimi Chakraborty was even mocked by the opposition (a BJP candidate) for wearing a salwar kameez at an election rally.

Trinamool MPs Mimi Chakraborty and Nusrat Jahan might soon be representing the people of Bengal, but the personal attacks don’t seem to be coming to an end. When the two Tollywood stars-turned-politicians shared a picture from in front of the Parliament (where they had gone to register themselves), there was a flurry of comments that mocked them for being ‘undeserving’ and even went as far to make fun of how they were dressed.

If you’ve been following the elections carefully, it is well-documented how the two Trinamool candidates were trolled from the beginning of their campaign. Vicious memes manufactured from their Instagram posts and Tik Tok videos were being circulated as ‘evidence’ for how they would make for unsuitable political leaders.

Mimi Chakraborty was even mocked by the opposition (a BJP candidate) for wearing a salwar kameez instead of denims. Chakraborty took matters head on, and openly discussed it in during her own election rally. Chakraborty and Jahan aren’t the only stars being fielded by Trinamool, there’s also superstar, Dev. But the vitriol and the snark is reserved for the two women.

Overcoming all of this, Jahan won her constituency (Basirhat) by a record margin of 3.5 lac votes. While Chakraborty won in her constituency (Jadavpur) by a margin of 2.9 lac votes. The haters might hate, but there’s no stopping these two.
