The Kerala police have arrested Malayalam superstar Dileep in connection with the abduction and alleged sexual assault of a popular female actress in February 2017. On Monday, Dileep was called to the Aluva police station for questioning and the arrest happened a while after that. Reportedly, Kerala police decided to arrest Dileep after questioning him for five hours today. The 48-year-old actor is reported to have been arrested on conspiracy charges.
The actress was assaulted on February 18 and many media reported that it was his personal grudge against her which led him to hire Pulser Suni and his team to do the crime.
Two weeks ago, in a 13-hour-long interrogation, the Janapriyanayakan of Malayalam cinema had stated that he didn’t know Pulsar Suni, the main accused in the assault case. However, the police discovered a photo of Suni on the sets of Dileep’s recent release Gerogettan’s Pooram. The photo proved Suni’s presence at the shooting location of a club in Thrissur, Kerala. Following the release of this picture, police decided to arrest the actor.
There are also reports that Dileep’s friend and singer-turned-director Nadirshah of Amar Akbar Antony and Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan were also arrested along with the Malayalam superstar. The arrest news has sent shock waves across the entire film fraternity as Dileep is the biggest superstar of Mollywood after the two big M’s of Malayalam cinema, Mammootty, and Mohanlal.
