No changes in the release date of Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, confirms producer Sophia Paul

Many Malayalam films, including Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Ezra, Fukri and Jomonte Visheshangal, were initially releasing during Christmas last year

The dispute between the Kerala Film Producers Associations and Kerala Exhibitors association has finally resolved. The three-week-long rift came to an end after Malayalam actor Dileep formed a new film association along with the members of AMMA (Association Of Malayalam Movie Artists) and FEFKA (Film Employees Federation Of Kerala).

Dileep also confirmed that from January 19, 2017, all Malayalam films will be released on time without any delay.

Many Malayalam films, including the Mohanlal-starrer Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Ezra, Jayasurya’s Fukri and Sathyan Anthikad and Dulquer Salmaan’s Jomonte Visheshangal, were initially slated to release on Christmas last year. Thanks to the dispute between Film Producers Associations and Exhibitors association—none of the releases could hit the screens on time.

The newly formed association had revealed that Jomonte Visheshangal will be released on January 19 while the producer of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Sophia Paul has announced that her family entertainer will hit the screens on one day later, on January 20, 2017.

But the new film association told media that Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol will be released on 26th January so that both Jomonte Visheshangal and the Mohanlal-starrer could be released as solo releases on respective weeks.

However, the film federation’s decision has not gone well with the producer of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, Sophia Paul.

Interestingly, January 26 is already crowded with the release of four major non-Malayalam films at the Kerala Box Office. These include Tamil films Bogan and Suriya’s Singam 3 and Bollywood films, Kaabil starring Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. The makers of Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol are not planning to release the Mohanlal-starrer on Jan 20 to clash with other non-Malayalam releases. Also, according to Sophia Paul, she has already informed the new film association that she will be releasing Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol on January 20th as a solo release.

On Sunday afternoon, the Bangalore Days producer took to her Facebook page to confirm that Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol will be released on January 20 itself as per her plans. He posted:

“MUNTHIRIVALLIKAL THALIRKKUMBOL, A JANUARY 20TH RELEASE !!
My movie Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is releasing on JANUARY 20TH. A lot of fake news has been spreading around the media that the release will be on January 26th. IT IS A FALSE NEWS !! Our release date January 20th is confirmed and there will be no changes to this date”.
