Kapil Sharma, the last episode of your show was terrible. Bring back the comedy, or shut TKSS down

The recent episode of The Kapil Sharma Show without Sunil Grover, Ali Asgar and Chandan Prabhakar was just too bad

“Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people,” Steve Jobs once remarked. Ace comedian Kapil Sharma should have a look at this famous quote by the Apple co-founder in the times of distress. While the news reports about the plummeting TRPs are true or not, this weekend showed how the show is now wearing out in front of the viewers.

On Saturday, it was the first time when Kapil Sharma hosted the show sans three of his co-actors Sunil Grover, Chandan Prabhakar and Ali Asgar. And it could be seen how the absence of three pillars was reflecting on the ace comedian. Punchlines were forced and evoked giggles from Sidhu (obviously) and the spectators who happily obliged as they were getting to see the stars in real. Manoj Bajpayee and Taapsee Pannu were on the show to promote their upcoming film Naam Shabana.

The entire onus lay on Kapil, Sumona Chakraborty, Rochelle Rao and Kiku Sharda to shoulder the episode. There were moments when you could giggle on some jokes, but it failed to evoke the same magic. After all, the giggles on location do not translate into more viewer points. The next episode on Sunday did show some signs of improvement with stalwarts like Raju Srivastav, Sunil Pal and Ahsan Qureshi appearing as guests, and they were able to ease burden off Sharma’s shoulders. The trio took turns to engage the audience with the trademark acts, but it is just for a single episode. The viewers still miss the dual avatar of Grover as Dr Mashoor Gulati and Rinku Bhabhi. Similarly, people are delighted to see Ali Asgar who dons the role of Nani and Chandan Prabhakar as Kapil Sharma’s servant on the show.

With the channel reportedly expressing its unwillingness to renew the contract after April, it has made things extremely difficult for Sharma. The alleged in-flight brawl with Sunil Grover has turned the tides in favour of the latter, with the comedian fraternity choosing sides in the ongoing episode. Grover has refused to come back and some news we have reported about a rival channel having approached him for a new show.

The fallout has done a lot of damage to Kapil’s credibility. Social media has come out in favour of Grover, while berating the host for his ‘arrogance’. Even the Bollywood celebs have reportedly opted out of the show. Now, it will be seen how Sharma fills in the huge void created by the absence of three characters who made the show a household name. The viewers will definitely miss the hilarious Dr Mashoor Gulati on the show in days to come.

Wish you good luck Kapil Sharma!
