Is Miley Cyrus really back? Fans get nostalgic over latest song 'Malibu'

Miley Cyrus fans are rejoicing over her latest song titled Malibu, dedicated to Liam Hemsworth. People are starting to believe that Miley is back. But, is she really?

Miley Cyrus has unveiled her latest song titled Malibu which, she has dedicated to her fiancé Liam Hemsworth. The single most obvious thing to notice about the song is that it sounds very much like Cyrus’ older songs before her career went sideways. Fans are rejoicing over Miley being back but, is she really back though?

Miley Cyrus started off as a pop and country singer but, she went on to ditch the latter to focus on her, ahem, bold renditions of pop. After the 24-year-old singer’s last two albums, Bangerz and Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, fans had lost all hope that the old Miley would come back. Miley made sure that people would forget her old sweet girl image and killed the facade of Hannah Montana, the one that got her famous.

“We watched the sun go down as we were walking/ I’d spend the rest of my life just standing here talking/ You would explain the current, as I just smile/ Hoping I just stay the same and nothing will change”

Her latest song Malibu, like the rest of the upcoming album, is very much toned-down as Miley returns to her folksy roots. With comments like “I’m so happy that my favourite singer is back,” Miley Cyrus fans are going completely bonkers over the song. However, an album hardly changes anything about her personality. Miley has literally always been the same person.

First of all, this is not the first time Miley has “returned”. Back when the singer had allegedly gone crazy, she did several country covers including popular songs like Jolene and You’re Gonna Make Me Lonsesome When You Go. The genre really brings out the best of Miley but she went a different direction ’cause of her apparent disinterest. Miley “can’t be tamed” and she wouldn’t do anything that she wouldn’t wish to.

Maybe it was a late rebellious teenage phase or, maybe, Miley has a mind of herself and mainstream is just not her thing, who knows? But, one thing is for sure that a sober album doesn’t change a thing about her. Miley is still a fireball of a woman, who is only recreating an image for herself by trying on new things at the moment.
