Wonder Woman broke all norms pertaining to what a superhero movie should be so, it seems fitting that the film should be awarded for it. This Gal Gadot-starrer has been praised by fans and critics alike for sporting kickass action while also being so full of heart. Directed by Patty Jenkins, the film was released on June 2 and on Tuesday night, it was honoured at the 2017 Golden Trailer Awards.
The 18th Annual Golden Trailer Awards were held on June 6 in Beverly Hills where Wonder Woman grabbed an award in the ‘Best in Show’ category. The awards are designated every year to the best in film and TV marketing. The movie had released four trailers before its release out of which, the Origins trailer seemed to impress the jury. Open Road Entertainment and the AV Squad took home the award for the trailer. Aside from clutching the ‘Best in Show’ honour, Wonder Woman also won ‘Best Fantasy/Adventure’ and ‘Best Summer 2017 Blockbuster Poster’.
The trailer won against heavy competition from several other films including Blade Runner 2049, Dunkirk, Atomic Blonde, The LEGO Batman Movie, Manchester by the Sea, and A Cure For Wellness. The GTA also presents honorary mentions in 115 categories which are decided upon by a jury of directors, writers, producers, executives, actors, exhibitors and critics.
Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen, Elena Anaya and Lucy Davis, Wonder Woman is the big summer blockbuster of 2017. The film has been said to be the best DC has offered in recent times, and has been lauded for depicting Wonder Woman in an empowering new light, unlike our previous female superheroes.
