Cars 3 trailer: Lightning McQueen gathers rust as competition toughens

The official trailer of Cars 3 is out and Lightning McQueen doesn't seem to be doing so well as he gathers rust while competition gets strong.

“Your racing days are coming to an end.” Following the dramatic slo-mo crash of Lightning McQueen back in the November teaser, Cars 3 has been on our minds. The Quicksilver of cars, McQueen, is starting to gather rust. Thankfully, the latest trailer is not as depressing as the teaser. In the first trailer of Cars 3, McQueen can be seen trying to recuperate from the crash that officially put a kibosh on his racing career.

While racing against his newest rival Jackson Storm (Armie Hammer), Lightning McQueen loses control as he tries to cross the finish line first. McQueen, slips and overturns, crashing into the barricades. While others try and convince him to try and leave a legacy behind by modelling and to quit racing, McQueen refuses to give up and starts strenuous training to regain his number 1 title.

“I decide when I’m done,” McQueen says in the trailer. “I can’t go back on the track and do the same old thing.” Enter Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo), McQueen’s new trainer who is hell bent on getting her idol back into his former, glorious shape. But, winning won’t be easy as his rival Storm breaks all speed records and the media pushes him for retirement.

Cars 3 stars Owen Wilson, Cristela Alonzo, Armie Hammer, Larry the Cable Guy, Bonnie Hunt, John Ratzenberger, Lloyd Sherr, Michael Wallis and Kerry Washington. The Disney Pixar film is set to be released on June 16, 2017.
