Despite injuries and age, Salman Khan continues to do action films. Here's why

Salman Khan has been fighting against injuries due to action scenes in recent times. But, he reveals what motivates him to pull off such performances

At the age of 51, he still gives the new blokes a run for their money. Every year, the festival of Eid is reserved for his films to enthral the fans. That’s Salman Khan for you. What are the ingredients of a typical Salman Khan film? It’s Salman Khan, song and dance, action and last but not the least, Salman Khan as well.

Since his 2009 hit Wanted became a money spinner at the box office, the superstar has been at the peak of his career. Despite one or two misses, each of his films in the past seven years has been blockbusters. His entry in the films is greeted by whistles and claps in the theatres. The Bhai fans swoon over his dance moves and cheer when he bashes on-screen baddies (Dabangg, Bodyguard etc). However, he has had his share of injuries in his film career too. But he has no intentions of shedding the image of an action hero.

Recently in a no-holds-barred interview to The Hindustan Times, Khan said:

My mother says I’m stuck at 13! But I’ve started getting injured a lot more and I’ve started feeling the pain a lot more. I’ve had fractures, broken bones, strained muscles, torn ligaments, everything hurts, but I’m still working. I sleep for four hours. People who complain they can’t sleep don’t know what to do with the time they’re awake. I use that time. If I’m not shooting, I’m reading scripts, listening to narrations, sitting on music, meeting lawyers, attending to the Being Human Foundation, or partying!

Adding further, Khan said a person begins to feel old when the enthusiasm to work dies. Here’s what he said:

My doctor says, ‘Don’t be Rambo!’ But I can’t stop working. I believe you grow old and feel your age when you start getting tired, when you’re bored with life, unenthusiastic about your work and when you lose that get-up-and-go impulsiveness. You need to be happy, excited and interested all the time. You need to be on the move. And don’t leave even one pore in your body open for the old man to get in. If you do, the old man will take over your life!”
