His romantic melody Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from the acclaimed 1942 A love story is one of those songs composed by Pancham-da that strikes our mind. However, recently a news came out that filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali was present in the studio where this song was being composed.

Praising the legendary composer, Bhansali has written in the foreword that, “It must have taken Pancham-da hardly 15 minutes to compose that entire masterpiece song along with the musical interludes. With his glorious flow of talent, he did not have to make any effort, it just came to him”.

He further added “Seeing Pancham-da sitting right in front of me, at the ‘sitting’ was one of the most precious moments of my career in showbiz. As a young boy, I would refuse to have my dinner at my rich cousin’s house unless I heard that RD Burman track “Jab Andhera Hota Hai”. He even emphasized that these memories remained with him while he was composing the music for his home production Bajirao-Mastani.

RD BurMania- Pancha Memoirs is a book on memories with RD Burman penned by renowned entertainment journalist Chaitanya Padukone.
