Watch: In memory of the uber stylish Vinod Khanna, here are six of his iconic songs

Vinod Khanna dared to start his career off as a villain and that's a feat he'll always be remembered for.

Bollywood lost yet another yesteryear heartthrob and brilliant actor in Vinod Khanna. The yesteryear actor, who died at the age of 70 after months of illness, was one of the first in the industry to have started off his career as a villain and moved on to playing the hero later.

Vinod Khanna was known equal parts for his acting prowess, good looks and dapper style. When at the peak of his career in 1982, the actor took a break, turned to his spiritual guru Osho Rajneesh and kept at the hiatus for a good five years. Born to a Punjabi family residing in Peshawar, Pakistan, Vinod Khanna was known as one of the most handsome actors of his time. Though he never achieved ‘superstar’ status in the typical sense of it, he did give us several hit soundtracks to ensure we never forget him.

Here’s a selection to play while you mourn this irreparable loss for Bollywood and for his fans.

Jab Koi Baat Bigad Jaaye: Probably one of the most highly cited songs of Vinod Khanna’s career, this spin-off of popular folk song ‘500 Miles’ is sung to this date.

Chahiye Thoda Pyaar: Sung by Kishore Kumar with music by Bappi Lahiri, this song achieved iconic status in no time. It was from the 1979 movie ‘Lahu Ke Do Rang’.

Pyaar Zindagi Hai: Long before DJ Suketu remixed it, the original version sung by Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle had Raakhee and Vinod Khanna oozing style. From the movie ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, this song has been a hit with every generation.

Koi Hota Jisko Apna: From the movie ‘Mere Apne’, this song in Kishore Kumar’s voice was easily one of the most popular sad songs starring Vinod Khanna.

Rote Huye Aate Hain Sab: The title track of ‘Muqaddar Ka Sikandar’, this one was also sung by Kishore Kumar.

Haal Kya Hai Dilon Ka Na Pucho Sanam: From the movie ‘Anokhi Adaa’, this Kishore Kumar rendition is one of the most under-rated Vinod Khanna songs.
