Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees has set the box office on fire since it hit the theatres on January 25. The viewers have loved the superstar’s devious avatar and the songs have become an instant hit. But do you know the story behind the magical songs which have left us swooning.
The makers of the film have unveiled the behind-the-scenes video of the Garba song Udi Udi Jaaye which features SRK and Mahira Khan. The song has been sung by Sukhwinder Singh, Bhoomi Trivedi, and Karsan Sagathiya. The video shows the tireless effort that went into shooting the colourful song which has generated a lot of buzz. Arsh Tanna, who choreographed the song praised Shah Rukh Khan’s tireless effort in making the song appear beautiful on the screen.
Raees features Shah Rukh Khan playing a bootlegger-turned-don. Besides him, the gangster drama has Nawazuddin Siddiqui playing tough cop Jaideep Majmudar who takes on the might of Raees Alam. Mahira Khan has been paired opposite the superstar whereas Mohammad Zeeshan Ayyub plays his friend Sadiq.
The film had its share of controversies before the release. It is alleged that the flick was loosely based on the life of yesteryear Gujarat don Abdul Latif. The late gangster’s son Mushtaq Shaikh alleged that the film portrayed his father in a poor light. He had also threatened to file a defamation suit to the tune of Rs 100 crore if the film was released.
Also, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had objected to Mahira’s appearance in the film. Later, Shah Rukh Khan met Raj Thackeray and assured the MNS chief that she would not be a part of Raees‘ promotion. Watch the song here:
