Trolls slut shame Taapsee Pannu for her magazine cover photo-shoot and we cannot figure out why

Taapsee Pannu's Maxim photo-shoot has left trolls fuming for a reason that's beyond our comprehension.

When actress Taapsee Pannu posted her Maxim cover photo-shoot on Instagram, she might not have remotely imagined the kind of backlash awaiting her.  The clothes she is wearing has apparently hurt the sentiments of moral police on social media and given them the fodder to attack her. What Tapsee is wearing is the regular stuff that actresses wear during photo-shoots –flaunting their uber glamorous self, as is the norm. However, people often confuse an actress’ screen persona with the choices they make as an Bollywood star.

Apparently, people are offended because after films like Pink and Naam Shabana, she has ditched her “women empowerment” project and gone to doing the regular photo-shoots like other actresses.

The obvious counter to this is Tapsee as an actress has the choice to whatever she wants to do and second, even if she is known for being a feminist, that doesn’t take away her right to wear what she wants.

Also there is something extremely disturbing about women being pulled up by social media moral brigade for what they choose to wear.

Here’s the photo that has got social media trolls to wear their judgmental glasses:

The comments on Taapsee’s photo range from nasty to ugly. It is strange how these trolls take the liberty of writing the destinies of people they don’t know and have nothing to do with. While one troll said Taapsee would turn out to be another ‘failed’ babe of Bollywood, another one said shedding clothes is what women empowerment means for the actress. An army of ever-ready perverts also posted a barrage of comments on her photos.

Sadly trolling has become the new normal. Whenever actresses put up pictures, they are mercilessly trolled. A few weeks ago when Ahana Kumra shared images of her vacation, in which she was wearing a bikini, her figure stirred trolls’ nest. They said the ‘tyres’ of her stomach was ugly. When Esha Gupta shared nude pictures of her from a photo shoot, she got an even uglier treatment. One of the trolls said she was not Indian and was not doing justice to the ‘sanskaar’ of the land. After this incident, Esha said in an interview that her body was hers and no one else has the right to comment anything.

We really hope trolls get a job. It is high time!
