Shraddha Kapoor will essay the role of yesteryear gansgter Haseena Parkar in Apoorva Lakhia’s upcoming film Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai. The actor is quite excited about the role and she took to Twitter to express the same. Shraddha looks quite devilish in the teaser of poster of the film. Along with her, sibling Siddhant Kapoor is also featured. It should be mentioned that he plays underworld don Dawood Ibrahim in the film.
It is for the first time that a real-life sibling duo will be essaying the same role on the big screen as well. Haseena is the first female protagonist venture of Shraddha. It is also her second film of this year after Half Girlfriend which hits the theatres on 19 May. Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai releases on July 14 and will clash with Sridevi-starrer Mom. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, it is about a career-oriented woman who tries to adjust with her step-daughter.
Directed by Lakhia, Haseena is the story of Haseena Parkar who called the shots in Mumbai’s underworld. She controlled her brother’s business in the metropolis while he was cooling his heels in Dubai and Karachi. In her entire life, she was taken to the court only once in her lifetime.
She was also known as “Godmother of Nagpada”. Haseena was alleged to be the go-to-person for hawala transfer from Middle East to India. The builders queued up outside her home whenever they needed ‘permission’ from the slum dwellers to construct their properties. She died of cardiac arrest in 2014.
