SS Rajamouli hints at Baahubali 3, but there's a condition

SS Rajamouli hinted there might be a third instalment of the blockbuster Bahubali series

Baahubali: The Conclusion has shattered several records since it hit the theatres a week ago. The SS Rajamouli magnum opus has earned more than Rs 700 crore worldwide and might become the first ever Indian film to cross the Rs 1,000 crore mark. Both the instalments of the franchise have generated a lot of buzz, triggering curiosity among the fans whether the fictional epic will have a third part as well. And there’s something which will make them happy.

Rajamouli has not ruled out the third instalment despite the fact that the second part had ended the story. Ahead of the screening of the film at the British Film Institute in London, the director spilt the beans. “The fact is that we have a market for the film. If we go on to make a film for the market without a compelling plot, then it is not honest filmmaking. If my father comes up with a terrific story as the previous two versions, then there is no stopping it. We can surely make it,” the director told Variety.

Baahubali’s story has been penned by Rajamouli’s father KV Vijayendra Prasad, who also wrote Bajrangi Bhaijaan featuring Salman Khan. However, the filmmaker had not expected that the film would receive such a thunderous reception upon its release.

Baahubali stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan in pivotal roles. The first instalment of the film was released in 2015, and received several awards including two National Awards for Best Feature Film and Visual Effects.
