Although his war drama Rangoon failed to set the cash registers ringing, but Shahid Kapoor’s popularity is on a rise. The 36-year-old actor is now a proud father of cute girl Misha and continues to hog limelight. Now, a popular magazine has adjudged him the Man of The Year and Shahid is more than happy. The actor could not hide his excitement and took to social media to express his gratitude.”Thank you femina for the man of the year award,” Kapoor posted on Instagram.
Shahid, known for his opinion on women issues, recently came out in support of his wife Mira, who has been facing criticism over her comments on feminism and housewife.
“I think she was speaking from a very positive space. I do understand that people have a strong point of view and people get hurt about things, but I think we are in a time where everybody is getting hurt about everything,” Kapoor told PTI.
“I think Mira is speaking for a section of women who really aren’t being represented. There are times when those women feel that they should not be celebrated. By that I mean women who might not be doing a job, who might choose to be at home, have a baby, take care of the baby and consider that important enough to do at a certain stage in your life,” the Udta Punjab actor said. Mira had courted controversy after she said that her daughter Misha was not a ‘puppy’ to be left alone at home and spending only an hour to spend in a day.
Recently, Shahid gave a statement on women which won a lot of hearts. He said that women are superior to men in a lot of ways and they should be appreciated.
On the career front, Shahid will share screen space with Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati, which will hit the theatres later this year.
