In an interview with ANI, Shah Rukh told many things about the film and his role. He also spoke about his co-star Mahira Khan and revealed the real reason for choosing the railway route for promotions.

We wanted to cover as many cities as possible in minimum time and that’s how we decided to travel by train. Also, Raees is a very earthy film set in India, so to maintain the dignity of the film we came up with this solution. In fact, I myself has not traveled by Indian railways in a long time, so we packed our bags and boarded the train.

The film is very realistic and I am not playing some hero. So, the makers wanted to pair me up with a new face. The auditions for the actress started a year back and finally after much look out, Mahira was selected for the role. Also, Mahira is a very talented girl and her acting is very realistic as she comes from a TV and theater background.
On being left alone on the sets
Nobody on the sets used to talk to me. At first, I though they are busy with the film’s making and other stuff, but later they told me that they were scared of me. Since I used to wear Kajal for my role, everybody on the sets told me that I look scary and angry.
