Bollywood actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is all set to surprise everyone with his yet another avatar in Manto, thanked Rishi Kapoor for sharing screen space with him. Apart from Nawazuddin, the film will also see the veteran actor in a special appearance. It is yet to be revealed what role Rishi has played in the film. Om Puri was supposed to play a character in the film, but he passed away earlier this year. Rishi was last seen, in 2016 released Kapoor & Sons. For the film, he also received a Filmfare Awards in the category of best-supporting actor.

Nawazuddin himself broke the news on the social media platform, Twitter. However, he didn’t let out anything about the film. He wrote: “It was indeed a pleasure sharing the screen with @chintskap Sir, what an amazing energy you possess even now”, he tweeted on Wednesday.

Responding to his tweet, Rishi wrote: “Thank you, Nawaz! Did that bit for Nandita Das and ‘Manto’ — title role played by you. We will have fun working together in the future.”

Directed by Nandita Das, Manto is a biographical film based on late writer Indo-Pakistani Saadat Hasan Manto. The film traces the life of Manto at the time of the India-Pakistan partition. Nawazuddin Siddiqui will play the titular role in the upcoming movie, for which he has already done costume tests for the role and recently shared the first look of him as Manto on his twitter handle.

Meanwhile, Rishi Kapoor once again made it to the headlines recently. This time the veteran star landed himself in controversy for chopping off a banyan tree, which was said to be inside in the bungalow Krishna of Raj at Bandra’s Pali Hill in Mumbai. Following which the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a show-cause notice to him.

Besides Nawazuddin, the film also features Tahir Raj Bhasin as late actor Sunder Shyam Chadda, who was Manto’s friend.
