Randeep Hooda on workplace sexual harassment: Women should speak up without worrying about consequences

Randeep Hooda has spoken on workplace sexual harassment cases and asked women to not stay quiet about it as it will only encourage the perpetrator

Speaking about the alarming increase in cases of workplace sexual harassment against women, Randeep Hooda has said they shouldn’t fear before speaking on the matter. Randeep, who hosts the show Big F season 2, said he was shocked that such incidents still prevailed in the society. Randeep’s statement comes in wake of numerous incidents of workplace harassment. TVF co-founder Arunabh Kumar,  ScoopWhoop co-founder Suparn Pandey and Queen director Vikas Bahl, were accused of sexually harassing women who worked with them.

These new incidents have put the spotlight on the disturbing nature of workplace ethics. When Randeep was asked about it, he urged women to take stand for themselves. He told Mumbai Mirror in an interview, “It surprises me how in today’s day and age, women fall prey to sexual harassment at the workplace. Being in a position of power does not give men the authority to prey on someone for their own pleasure. Ditto, the women. Women who feel violated should definitely stand up for themselves without worrying about the consequences of voicing their concern. Only a woman can help herself and men should be warned that now, with this being discussed openly, they can no longer get away with it .”

The Sarbjit star demanded clear guidelines to be set so that no one could misuse them. He said everyone in the organisation should be aware of the rules and should know whom to talk to in such a situation.  “Clear guidelines should be put forth to everyone in the organisation about what constitutes objectionable behaviour at the workplace and whom to contact if someone steps over the line. Your being right or wrong should not be based on gender and position. It varies from individual to individual and from case to case,” Randeep was quoted by the daily.

Randeep added, “If you don’t talk, it will only encourage the perpetrator. If someone is harassing you, bring it up with the management instead of feeling helpless and victimised.”
