Bollywood actors Anushka Sharma and Diljit Dosanjh’s recently released film Phillauri collected Rs 22.68 cr at the Box Office on the seventh day of its release. Though the film witnessed a slow start on its opening day, it seems that a strong word of mouth helped the film to grow. Confirming the same about the collection of the film, trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to his twitter and posted the exact figure, he wrote: #Phillauri Fri 4.02 cr, Sat 5.20 cr, Sun 6.03 cr, Mon 2.02 cr, Tue 1.95 cr, Wed 1.81 cr, Thu 1.65 cr. Total: ₹ 22.68 cr. India biz. With this figure, the film also beats the lifetime collection of Kangana Ranaut, Saif Ali Khan, and Shahid Kapoor’s Rangoon, which failed to please the audience and collected mere Rs 20.68 cr.
Phillauri featured Anushka and Diljit in the lead and also marked her second home production after NH10. Directed by debutant director Anshai Lal, Phillauri was released on March 24.
Set in Phillaur, Punjab, it narrates the story of Kanan essayed by Life of Pi fame Suraj Sharma, who is persuaded by his friends and family to marry a tree to ward off the bad luck afflicting his love-life. To Kanan’s surprise, this awakens an ancient tree spirit Shashi, played by Anushka. In the film, both Anushka and Diljit are seen working together for the first time. Earlier, Diljit was seen in his last Bollywood outing in Udta Punjab.
Made on a small budget of Rs 21cr and released in only 1000 screens across the country, Phillauri managed to earn a good amount of number and also gave the audience a chance to enjoy Anushka’s ghost avatar. On day six of its release, the film minted Rs 21.03 cr at the Box Office.
As of now, Anushka is busy with Imtiaz Ali’s next upcoming film. Also starring superstar Shah Rukh Khan in lead, this film will mark the third collaboration of the two after their films including Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi
