Other Box Office records aside, Baahubali 2 challenges day 1 records of Salman Khan's films in Mumbai

With a massive screen count, Baahubali 2 is set to make some terrific Box Office records but what about this record that it's creating in Mumbai itself?

Apart from many records that Baahubali 2 has already created at the Box Office, there’s a special record that the SS Rajamouli film has made in Mumbai. The advance booking in India for the Hindi version of Baahubali: The Conclusion has raked-in as much as Rs 30 crore for the opening weekend.

The epic saga has surpassed Salman Khan’s Sultan, which was the previous record holder in terms of advance ticket sales, by a substantial margin of Rs 7 crore. The film, which features Rana Daggubati and Prabhas is expected to embark onto a record-breaking start at the Box Office across the country. However, it would be interesting to see if the film manages to record the highest single day collection of all time in Mumbai.

The film tickets are selling like hot-cakes in Mumbai and the response to the advance booking is something that has never happened since the advent of multiplex era. Despite exorbitant ticket rates, the film has managed to get an earth-shattering response in the city of dreams. Given the response so far, Baahubali 2 is looking to challenge films like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Dangal and Sultan in the city.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo: Rs 14.20 crore (Post Diwali)
Dangal: Rs 13.50 crore (Sunday)
Sultan: Rs 11.50 crore (Eid)

In terms of film business, Mumbai is the most important territory as it contributes maximum percentage of amount towards the total Box Office collections. An year back, no one would have imagined Baahubali 2 to even touch the double digit number in Mumbai. However, as things stand today, the movie is set to challenge a few of the biggest openers of all time in the city.

Mukta A2 (Goregaon): 8 shows – All Full
Carnival (Borivali): 17 shows – All Full
Miraj (Goregaon): 10 shows – All Full

What makes the feat even more remarkable is the fact that the record is being challenged by a regional film dubbed in Hindi. The collections in Mumbai are usually star-driven. However, it seems that the brand Baahubali is at par with a few of the biggest superstars in India. As far as overall performance of Hindi dubbed version is concerned, we are expecting the opening day collections in the range of Rs 33 to 38 crore.
