Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana movie review: Vivaan, Akshara and Gurmeet's baraat looks directionless

Overall rating: 2
Akshara Haasan, Vivaan Shah and Gurmeet Choudhary are here to tickle funny bones

Manish Harishankar’s 2 hrs and 10 minutes comedy film Laali Ki Shaadi Mei Laaddoo Deewana stars Kamal Haasan’s daughter Akshara and  Naseeruddin Shah’s son Vivaan alongside Gurmeet Choudhary, Sanjay Mishra and Saurabh Shukla. But should you go and watch the film in theaters this weekend? Here is our Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laaddoo Deewana movie review that will give you a clear idea.

Plot:

The story revolves around three main characters in the film Laali played by Akshara Haasan, Laaddoo played by Vivaan Shah and Veer played by Gurmeet Choudhary. Laali and Laaddoo fall in love and their world turn upside down when they figure out that Laali is pregnant. They part ways and Laaddoo’s family support Laali and vice versa. Things become more interesting when Gurmeet Choudhary aka Veer falls in love with Laali and decides to marry her. What happens next is a fun filled roller coaster ride.

Characters:

Akshara Haasan (Laali)

After making her Bollywood debut in Shamitabh alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Akshara tries her hands in the comedy genre. She looks pretty but her facial expressions are confusing at times in the film. The character she plays is strong and there have been times when Akshara nailed her character and yes there are times when she does not.

Vivaan Shah (Laaddoo)

After Happy New Year, Vivaan Shah makes his presence felt in a film that does not boast of some big actors. The good thing is that he drives the story well on his shoulders. Pleasant, cute and charming, Vivaan character’s is a happy go lucky guy and the actor fine tunes it as per his understanding.

Gurmeet Choudhary (Veer)

Gurmeet Choudhary as Veer tries to give his best. His character gets introduced at a stage where you know what is going to happen next so it is predictable.

Verdict:

laali-ki-shaadi-3

Kudos to the makers who came up with a fresh take on Indian weddings that can (in future) challenge the patriarchal society! However, the treatment of the film could have been better. Vivaan, Akshara, and Gurmeet did a fair job but Saurabh Shukla, Sanjay Mishra, and others stole the thunder and without a doubt have done a fantastic job. So yes go if you want to watch something different but prepare to take the story and acting with a pinch of salt.
