Jagga Jasoos draws on you and engulfs you with its emotional content. Anurag Basu succeeds in telling a heart-touching story and coupled with beautiful locations, Jagga Jasoos makes for an unforgettable watch. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif’s third movie together lives up to all the hype and it gets your attention from the first still. This much-awaited movie is one that will stay with you long after you leave the theaters. This Anurag Basu film delivers an unmissable message about human emotions which is how to get strength from longing.
Our Jagga (Ranbir Kapoor) is an animal lover and he steals hearts with his cute antics. Katrina, on the other hand, with her accent, sometimes turns to a letdown. Her presence obviously beautifies the movie but does little to pull up the plot. Jagga Jasoos also has given something all Ranbir Kapoor fans would love, their favorite in the cutest avatar. But Jagga isn’t your quintessential cute hero, he has tons of intelligence. He knows how to get out of trouble and find an escape route. Ranbir’s presence of mind adds energy to this movie. Another highlight of this movie is the chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif. The two have definitely grown as actors and their comfort zone around each other is visible. One can easily draw stark differences between their onscreen compatibility in Jagga Jasoos and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahanii.
If filming this movie in arresting locations was not enough, more charm has been added by Pritam. The music composer’s works touch the right chords of the hearts. The missing element of forced romance makes Jagga Jasoos a nice watch.
Coming back to the protagonist of the movie, Jagga is an intelligent man. His penchant for solving mysteries since childhood makes him the best detective around. One glance at his father’s (Sasawat Chatterjee) case and Jagga understands he is still alive. Despite being alone and emotionally vulnerable, Ranbir’s character comes out as a strong person.
Undoubtedly, Ranbir Kapoor is the star of Jagga Jasoos. His knack for mysteries gets amplified when his own life lands in trouble. On his quest to find his father, Ranbir stumbles upon many hurdles but emerges victorious all the times. Anurag Basu deserves credit for the fairytale treatment he has given the movie, make it outstanding.
Probably, the biggest drawback of the movie is its length. In its defense, making a musical would not have been easy and so the minutes would have been added to make it relatable.
