Kangana Ranaut has never written a word and she should not be taken seriously: Simran writer Apurva Asrani

Kangana Ranaut has been called as an arrogant woman by Apurva Asrani, the writer of Simran. He also slammed Hansal Mehta for his comments

Apurva Asrani, who courted controversy when he accused Kangana Ranaut and director Hansal Mehta for stealing his hard work in the upcoming movie Simran, has lashed out at them again. Apurva, who said Simran was his idea from the scratch, told that Kangana Ranaut talking ill about him in an interview is unfair. The writer also added that he was hurt with Hansal Mehta’s reaction on the entire fiasco.

Referring to the interview that Kangana gave after the incident Apurva said he was shocked to read it. He added Kangana’s statements reeked of insecurity, desperation and most of all nepotism. He said Kangana speaking low of writers and telling that he threatened her was defaming. “If she speaks so lowly of writers, you can imagine what she must have done to the director,” Apurva was quoted by the daily.

Apurva’s statements are quite shocking as Kangana has been the one who said Karan Johar was the flagbearer of nepotism. When Apurva was reminded that Kangana told she wasn’t impressed by his works as a writer, the former said he would introspect it if it came from a writer. He said, “Someone who has never written a word saying that should not be taken seriously. Even my cook and the paanwala has an opinion on scripts and movies. Let them first write a script themselves, get it made and then we can have a proper discussion.”

Talking about Hansal Mehta, Apurva said his comment that he was hampering Simran was sad. “He’s nowhere in the picture to defend his team or film. I was going to respond to her crass words in detail, but then god intervened in the form of Ketan Mehta and slapped her with a legal notice,” Apurva added. Film director Ketan Mehta accused Kangana of hijacking his movie based on Rani Laxmibai. He said she agreed to do the movie but went on to sign Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, with another director.

When the controversy broke, another writer Samir Gautam wrote a Facebook post in which he accused Apurva of not giving him due credit for Shahid. Apruva defended himself and said, ” I didn’t have the power or the clout to demand credits like Kangana does. Nor do I today, clearly. It was Hansal Mehta, who decided to credit me for the additional screenplay for Shahid. Of course, my name and his — yes he gave himself that credit to — came after the writers.”

Apurva also added that this Simran controversy has not ruined his career as one would have imagined but helped him get his hands on new projects.
