Sayani Gupta essays the role of a 14-year-old girl in the upcoming release Jagga Jasoos. This Anurag Basu directorial features Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in lead roles and has been in news for a really long time. Sayani said she understands that the movie has been delayed for long but asserts it’s a special movie for her. She said Jagga Jasoos is a movie she would love to watch on screen and is happy to be a part of it. Speaking to InUth, Sayani talked about the movie and more.
Working with Ranbir and Katrina is an experience Sayani says she will cherish. Telling a fun incident during the shoot, Sayani said, “I remember there is this one song which starts with Ranbir and me sitting on the table. I was sitting on the table for the entire day and I started sketching. I sketched Jagga’s character and he really liked it. He asked me to draw Katrina. I said how do I draw Katrina? Also, it is really difficult to draw a woman since I was drawing a cartoon. The outcome was really funny and Katrina was looking nice. He insisted me to show it to her and she said, what have you made me look?”
When asked if she put the blame on Ranbir, Sayani laughed off and revealed he was nowhere to be found. This clearly tells how much fun-loving Ranbir Kapoor is.
Speaking about the movie and why she came on board, Sayani revealed, “When I came on board, I was supposed to play something different. Of course, I play a 14-year-old girl but then I was supposed to be the narrator of the film, but that has changed. A lot has changed. I don’t know how much I am in the film. I agreed to the movie because I was more than happy to be a part of an Anurag Basu film. I really enjoyed his movies and the opportunity to work with Ranbir Kapoor who is a terrific actor. When he called me to tell he wants me to play a 14-year-old, I was perplexed. I thought only he has the imagination to offer me such a role.”
Sayani also said that those comparing Barfii and Jagga Jasoos should wait for July 14. Sayani revealed just like every ace filmmaker, Basu has a specific way of making his movies. She asserted that the story is brilliant, heart-touching and everyone should watch it.
