Ileana D'Cruz Displaces Kapil Sharma, Becomes The Web's 'Most Sensational Celebrity'

Rustom actor's name has been used by hackers to tempt netizens into clicking on malicious websites.

Indian actor Ileana D’Cruz recently ‘displaced’ comedian-actor Kapil Sharma from the list of the ‘most sensational celebrity’ in the Indian cyberspace.

According to the twelfth edition of McAfee Most Sensational Celebrity survey, Rustom actor’s name has been used by hackers to tempt netizens into clicking on malicious websites. Illeana isn’t the only one on the list, though. Actors Preity Zinta, Tabu, Kriti Sanon, Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Rishi Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Parineeti Chopra and Govinda have also made the cut.

Last year’s top contenders Kapil Sharma and Sonakshi Sinha failed to make it to the top 10 this time.

The term ‘sensational’ in this case refers to the high level of risk involved while searching for movies and websites using their names. Clicking on such links may lead to unsafe websites or virus. It is best to use an antivirus or a comprehensive security solution to prevent risking your system’s security and personal data.

“In today’s era, the entertainment industry and celebrities are bigger than ever before. Loyal fans feel the dire need to stay updated on industry news and gossip at all times. Ease of access through a range of connected devices has made it increasingly feasible for followers to avail instant news and information on their favourite stars,” Venkat Krishnapur, Vice-President of Engineering and Managing Director, McAfee said in a statement.

He also explained how celebrity fans fall prey to cyber culprits through these sites.”While fans religiously track their icons, online security is often compromised over speed and convenience. Cyber criminals leverage this opportunity to lure users by directing them to malicious links that could be used to infect devices or steal identities,” he added.

Krishnapur further stated, “As a precaution, consumers need to think before they click and avoid suspicious links that promise free content featuring favourite celebrities, movies, TV shows or pictures to protect themselves from cyber fraud.”

Quick Tips For Users:

Think before you click:  While searching for or downloading Ileana’s movies, go for known and reliable websites. Don’t be tempted by titillating or free content. Watch movies on genuine sites like Netflix, Youtube and Amazon Prime.

Pay heed to security warnings: If you receive a pop-up warning while clicking a link, make sure you read it carefully and weigh your options before proceeding ahead.

Keep your security solution updated: Update your security solution regularly to enhance protection against malware, phishing attacks, and other threats.
