It is quite rare to witness a mainstream Bollywood film getting released withotu getting into trouble with the Censor Board. This time it’s Irrfan Khan-starrer Hindi Medium, a satirical take on the troubles Indian parents face in getting their kids enrolled in private English medium schools.
The Censor Board has asked the makers to put a disclaimed stating that the film is a work of fiction and bears no resemblance to the real world.”We understand that it’s a real-life situation as thousands of parents face difficulties during school admission process. But if there is no disclaimer, the educational institutions will rise up claiming that the film is maligning them,” sources told DNA.
It is not the first time when a Bollywood film has faced the wrath of the censor board. Lipstick Under My Burkha, Maatr and there are several flicks which have found themselves in controversies.
Directed by Saket Chaudhary, Hindi Medium features Irrfan Khan, Saba Qamar and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles. Earlier, the film was supposed to clash with Ayushmann Khurana-Parineeti Chopra starrer Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sarkar 3 featuring Amitabh Bachchan on May 12. But the release date has been pushed to May 19 and the film will now clash with Mohit Suri’s Half Girlfriend which stars Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor.
Irrfan Khan will be making a comeback to the silver screen after gap of 1 year. He won accolades for his role in Madaari.
