Have the makers glorified Dawood Ibrahim in Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena Parkar? Director Apoorva Lakhia answers

Shraddha Kapoor, Apoorva Lakhia, Siddhanth Kapoor and the team of Haseena Parkar Biopic launched the theatrical trailer of the film at a grand event at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai. At the trailer launch event, when Apoorva Lakhia was asked if he has glorified underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim and his sister, Haseena Parkar in the film, the director said that the attempt is to give the film a balanced approached. He said,

“We have not tried to glorify any character in Haseena Parkar. Whenever you make a film on a person whose family is alive, it is very important to stick to the maximum research you have done as a film-maker. I have to take both point of views i.e. Family as well as the police. I have gone through all crime records and have gone as back as 1979. I along with my writers have tried to get the right script and make the film as balanced as possible.”

Actress Shraddha Kapoor revealed that it was challenging to play the real life charcter on the big screen and regrets on missing out an opportunity to meet Haseena Parkar.

“I feel every film and character has a different kind of challenge. I didn’t get the chance to meet Haseena Parkar, but had I got the opportunity to meet her, it would have added a lot into the character. Every character has its own challenge to play be it fiction or real life, and thats’ the good part of being an actor. You get to play several different kind of characters and I am lucky that I got the chance to play a real life character in such early stage of my career,” said Shraddha Kapoor.

The film is slated to hit the big screen on August 18.  Haseena Parkar was initially titled Haseena: The Queen of Mumbai. Watch the film’s trailer here.
