A superstar to all and God to many, Rajinikanth is one man who is worshiped worldwide. Fondly called as Thalaiva, the superstar has also been honored with Padma Bhushan in the year 2000 and Padma Vibhushan in 2016.

And as Rajinikanth turns a year older today, people are celebrating his birthday all around the world. His fans are cutting cakes with his life-size posters and are going to temples to pray for his good health. In fact, the whole internet is going crazy and #HBDSuperstarRajinikanth is the top trend on Twitter.

Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad, superstar Rajinikanth began acting in plays while working as a bus conductor and later joined the Madras Film Institute to pursue a diploma in acting. The rest is history!

Rajinikanth has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and many Hindi films as well. And despite being the biggest superstar in the country he is the most humble man you may have ever seen. His movies work wonders at the Box Office. But you would be surprised to know that many times offices in South declare off when his movie releases so that people can watch the first-day first show.

But this year Rajinikanth has urged his fans to not celebrate his birthday on December 12, because of the sudden demise of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa last week.
