A perfect example of ‘Girl Power’, Gul Panag’s latest accomplishment is here to motivate all of us some way or the other. Recently, ‘InUth‘ got in touch with the Bollywood actress where she opened up about her big achievement.

Q. How does it feel to get a Private Pilot Licence (PPL)?

Ans. I am really excited to get Private Pilot Licence. This was something I have always looked forward to. I have worked very hard for it and have managed to get into the very exclusive club in the world. It’s a great feeling. This is like a dream come true. I have always wanted to fly and I think this was one of the biggest things on my bucket list, which got fulfilled.

Q. Tell us more about your training period?

Ans. It’s a Private Pilot Licence that’s what I have got myself qualified for. It takes about 4-6 weeks of flying broadly and about 2-3 months of studying. I broke this up over a period of about 10 months. First, I pursued my flying in the chunks of 10-10-10-10 days, then took out time to clear my exams. I cleared my exams and then resumed flying again and finished it this Monday.

Q. A lot of speculations are being made that you might quit the Bollywood. What is your take on this?

I am not switching careers, this is a hobby. My Private Pilot Licence allows me to fly only without remuneration or reward that is the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulation. On a PPL you can only fly without remuneration or reward. I am not switching careers. I am not going to join Jet Airways or Indigo, that’s not the idea. The idea is to find a bunch of like-minded friends and buy my own plane and pursue it as a hobby.

Q.Who would you want to accompany you on your first flight?

I will take my husband because he is been the one who has been supporting me through all of this. I am waiting for DGCA to issue my license and it should come in the next two-three weeks and the moment it comes, the first person I am taking is my husband.

Q. You are a motivation to a lot of young girls and women out there. Any message that you would like to give to them?

Ans. You should never stop chasing your dreams and the way to convert your dreams into reality is to convert them into goals first. Otherwise, it will just remain a dream. For me, this was my personal goal but I underestimated the impact it seems to have on other girls and women. A lot of girls are calling me and saying they are so inspired because there is no limit to what a person can do once they decide. The key factor here is to decide. Once you decide, you have to compartmentalize and pursue it and that goes for all the life goals. If you really want you can pursue everything and I am so happy that the Hobby Flying Community in India is slowly and steadily growing.
