Dangal Box Office collection: Aamir Khan film crosses Rs 300 crore in 13 days, becomes highest grosser of 2016

Dangal has done something which is totally commendable. The Aamir Khan film, at Rs 304. 38 crore, stands as an all time blockbuster

Dangal has finally gone past Sultan and crossed the lifetime Box Office collection of the Salman Khan film in just 13 days. The Aamir Khan starrer has minted an amount of Rs 304. 38 crore with Wednesday adding Rs 9. 23 crore to the game. Sultan, which was so far the highest grossing Hindi film of 2016 stood at Rs 301. 5 crore in its lifetime theatrical run at the Box Office. However, Dangal has now emerged as the first film to be raking in more than Rs 300 crore in just 13 days at the ticket window.

Week 1

  • Friday: Rs 29. 78 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 34. 82 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 42. 41 crore
  • Monday: Rs 25. 69 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 23. 09 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 21. 46 crore
  • Thursday: Rs 20. 29 crore

Week 2

  • Friday: Rs 18. 59 crore
  • Saturday: Rs 23. 07 crore
  • Sunday: Rs 32. 04 crore
  • Monday: Rs 13. 45 crore
  • Tuesday: Rs 10. 46 crore
  • Wednesday: Rs 9. 23 crore

Dangal, an all time blockbuster now, collected a whopping amount of Rs 197. 54 crore in its first week and Rs 106. 84 crore in its second week. The film still has an entire week to carry on with its stupendous Box Office run till Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor’s OK Jaanu hits the screens.

Dangal has also emerged as the highest grossing Indian film in Australia. The record was owned by Aamir’s previous on-screen outing  — PK, before Dangal. The performance of this Nitesh Tiwari directorial at overseas Box Office is also commendable. The film had raked in a total of Rs 158. 70 crore till Tuesday.

Dangal reaching Rs 300 crore is huge for a different reason too. While PK, the highest grossing Hindi film ever till date crossed the coveted landmark in 13 days, Dangal has done it in 13 days comfortably.

Breaking the existing molds of success and creating the new ones, Dangal has substantiated one thumb rule for a film’s success — the fact that a film with good intention and universal content always win.
