Another Bollywood Delegation Met PM Modi & Once Again 'Forgot' To Include Women

Guess what the Bollywood delegation to PM Modi looked like? 18 Men. Zero Women.

Bollywood couldn’t really care less about women’s representation, could it? It’s one thing to ‘forget’ about including women in a 7-member delegation to meet the Prime Minister about affairs related to the film industry. And quite another to repeat that much criticised move, when the delegation inflates to almost twice the size.

PM Modi recently met a delegation led by Bollywood’s very own walking-talking PSA, Akshay Kumar. And he shared a picture of the meeting saying that he had a ‘fruitful discussion on (sic) the strides being made by the film and entertainment industry, and got valuable inputs relating to GST for their sector.’

Guess, how many women were a part of the discussion? Zero. No, we aren’t discussing Shah Rukh Khan’s film releasing day after. But the sum total of women who contributed to this discussion.

Kumar even thanked the PM for ‘ taking out time to hear us at length, discuss issues pertaining to our industry and assuring positive consideration of suggestions.’

Understandably, a lot of women/men noticed the non-inclusion of women on the panel. And they pointed it out:

Looks like no one really gave it much thought after the gaffe last time! Or it’s probably because no one in Bollywood really cares about women’s representation. Explains quite a bit of the cinema they produce, doesn’t it?
