Be it her films including Highway or Dear Zindagi, Alia Bhatt is known for experimenting her roles. The actress, who was last seen in Shashank Khaitan directorial Badrinath Ki Dulhania is now all set for her next opposite Vicky Kaushal. Both Alia and Vicky are all set for their first Bollywood outing with Meghna Gulzar’s upcoming film. In the film, Alia will essay the role of a Kashmiri woman, who is married to a Pakistani Army Officer played by the Masaan actor.
Reportedly titled Raazi, the film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s book, Calling Sehmat. After directing critically acclaimed Talvar, Meghna once again donned the director’s hat for her next espionage thriller. The film will be filmed in Punjab and Kashmir in a start-to-finish schedule from July 2017, followed by a small schedule in Mumbai.
As the duo will be seen portraying a totally different character in the film, the director has concluded a workshop for the actors to get into the skin of their character. Alia and Vicky would be given hands-on training on the film and on the kind of performance the director expects from them. They will also work on the dialect and accent of the characters. The team has joined for workshops for a couple of weeks before they begin shooting by the end of this month.
Set against the backdrop of the 1971 war, it is the story of a Kashmiri woman married to an Army officer across the border who provides information to Indian intelligence.
From playing a boy next door in Masaan to a top cop in Raman Raghav 2.0, we have seen Vicky portraying a variety of roles. So, it will be interesting to see if the actor will spell the same magic in Gulzar’s next or not.
Apart from Raazi, Vicky also has films like Manmarziyan and Sanjay Dutt biopic. He was last seen in Raman Raghav 2.0, which also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the main lead.
