Baby is touted as Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar’s best film till date. Back in 2015, Pandey had spoken about his plans of taking forward the Baby franchise as the basic premise of the film has a lot to explore.
Pandey even produced Naam Shabana which was in a way a prequel to Baby which narrated the journey of Shabana Khan (Taapsee Pannu). In an interview with us, when Neeraj Pandey was asked about his plans of taking the Baby franchise forward, he said that the next film from the Baby franchise would be a sequel to the film and not a spin off. The director said,
Yes, we will hopefully come out with another film from the Baby franchise in 2019. It will be a sequel and not a spin off. I don’t know if I will be directing the sequel, but it is happening. We will take the directorial call closer to the shooting schedule.
Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar will soon start working on Crack, which is a psychological thriller. The first poster of the film was unveiled quite sometime back, which had the tagline ‘Every Storm Has A Rage, Every Rage Has A Story’ and the film is one of the most anticipated films of 2019.
Crack would be Akshay Kumar’s third association with Neeraj Pandey after Special 26 and Baby. That apart, Pandey is currently busy shooting for Aiyaari starring Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpai in lead. The movie is slated to hit the big screen during the Republic Day 2018 weekend. The film will lock horns with Akshay Kumar – Rajinikanth’s 2.0 at the box office.
Baby 2 will also star Rana Daggubati, Anupam Kher, Taapsee Pannu and Madhurima Tuli in pivotal roles. It would be interesting to see Neeraj Pandey, would come on board as a director or not.
