Rakhi Sawant has not been arrested by the Punjab police as earlier reported by ANI. An arrest warrant was issued after she made derogatory remarks on Valmiki. It was reported the arrest happened today and it all started when Rakhi Sawant made sly remarks about the saint who wrote the epic Ramayana. A warrant was issued against her on 9 March. Last year, Rakhi had allegedly made defamatory statements about Valmiki on TV.
Speaking about the arrest that never happened, DCP of Ludhiana Police said the team of four members who went to Mumbai is currently in train and returning to the city. Rakhi’s comments on the sage had irked the Valmiki community. The members of the community had also blocked the Adampur-Hoshiarpur Highway in Punjab for more than an hour when this controversy broke out. The people were so angry that they even blocked the Shatabdi Express demanding strict action against the actress.

It should not be forgotten that Rakhi’s controversy gained so much mileage because of the large population of the Valmiki community in the North and especially Punjab. This community is seen as a huge vote back by politicians. The community’s stern stand to not forgive Rakhi may have invited more trouble for her.
