Baahubali 2: Prabhas, Anushka Shetty film mints Rs121 crore on opening day, confirms Karan Johar

The official opening day collections of SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 is finally out and this is what Karan Johar has to say about it

The official opening day collections of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion is finally out. The film, a sequel to the 2015 runaway hit, Baahubali: The Beginning was released on Friday. Jointly produced by Shobu Yarlagadda, Kovelamudi Raghavendra Rao and Prasad Devineni, the war drama stars Telugu superstar Prabhas and South Indian beauty Anushka Shetty in lead roles. Prabhas essays the dual role in Baahubali 2 as father-son duo Amarendra Baahubali and Mahendra Baahubali whereas Anushka was seen donning the role of Maharani Devasena.

Though many media reported different opening day collection report of Baahubali 2 on Saturday morning, the film’s Hindi distributor and director Karan Johar officially revealed the real collection of the SS Rajamouli film on Saturday night. Karan took to his official Twitter page to reveal the opening day figures and wrote: “GRAND INDIA TOTAL OF 121 crores NET!!!!! HINDI IS 41 crores!!! TAMIL + TELUGU + MALAYALAM = 80 crores!!!! HISTORY HAS BEEN CREATED!!!!!!”

Interestingly, the Rs 121 crore is now officially the biggest opening day collection ever for an Indian film. The film’s collection in North India belt has come as the biggest surprise considering that opening day collections of Baahubali: The Beginning in Hindi belt was just Rs 4 crore upon its release. Also, Baahubali 2 has crossed the lifetime collections of its prequel at the Karnataka Box Office on its opening day. The lifetime figures of Baahubali 1 at the Sandalwood Box Office was just Rs 5.5 crore whereas the opening day collections of Baahubali 2 is a massive Rs 11 crore.

Baahubali 2 also stars Rana Daggubati, Nassar, Ramya Krishnan and Tamannaah Bhatia.
