A dog sentenced to death in Pakistan, owner files an appeal against it

As part of his dog's punishment, Jaleel Ahmad spent a week in jail.

As bizarre as it could get, a dog in Pakistan’s Punjab province was sentenced to death. The dog in question, apparently, bit a child and his father reported a case against the dog, a Geo TV report said. The child was playing outside his house and that’s when Jaleel’s dog bit him, thus injuring him. According to the report, Assistant Commissioner Raja Saleem in Bhakkar’s Kalor vicinity in Punjab province ruled that the dog injured the child and hence it should be killed.

The owner of the dog, Jaleel Ahmad was completely taken aback but he did not lose hope and filed an appeal against the death sentence. As reported by The Tribune (Pakistan), “Last week, five-year-old Ameer Hamza, a resident of Asgharabad, was playing on the streets with friends when he was attacked and bitten by Jaleel’s dog. In response to the attack, Ameer’s father, Anwar, filed an application to Assistant Commissioner Kalorkot, Raja Saleem.” The Additional Deputy Commissioner has accepted Jaleel’s appeal and the dog is now free. As part of his dog’s punishment, Ahmad spent a week in jail.
