UIDAI launches mAadhaar App for Android smartphones. Check details here

UIDAI has launched the mAadhaar app for Android users in India. The app allows users to carry their demographic information on their smartphones. Here's how it works

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched the mAadhaar for Android smartphone users in India. The app allows users to carry their demographic information connected to their Aadhaar card like– name, date of birth, address, along with a passport size and the Aadhaar number, on their smartphones. “LAUNCHING #mAadhaar- Carry your Aadhaar on your Mobile. The android app from UIDAI is now available on Google Play,” UIDAI tweeted while launching the app.

The mAadhaar app is already available for download on the Google Play Store for the Android users. However, iOS users will have to wait a little longer to get their hands on this app. This is the beta version of the app, which means that some of the functions will be available only after subsequent updates to the app.

Interestingly, the app uses biometric data to lock or unlock the app. To put it simply, once the biometric locking system has been enabled, the app will remain locked till the user chooses either to unlock it or disable the locking system. The app also comes with a TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) feature, which can be used instead of the SMS-based OTP.
