Sunil Dutt had seen Nargis for the first time at a movie premiere when she was already an established star and he had just begun in Bollywood. It was love at first sight for the actor but he took his time to confess it to Nargis who was then dating Raj Kapoor. It was on the sets of ‘Mother India’ that the duo got closer. Sunil Dutt saved Nargis from a massive fire on the sets of the movie and himself suffered major burns. The time which Nargis spent taking care of him became the turning point of their lives. A heartbroken Nargis (after her breakup with Raj Kapoor) and the smitten Sunil Dutt started sharing their stories and decided to share a life as well.
