Raees critic review: Shah Rukh Khan is sensational and the film an outright winner

While Shah Rukh Khan's Raees is being termed an all-rounder entertainer by the audiences, here's what the critics have to say about the film

Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees finally hit the theaters today and all the SRK fans are going gaga over it. While the actor’s recent train journey became the talk of the town and invited many uncalled controversies, the fans seem unaffected with all that and are rushing towards the theaters.

The movie is highly praised by the film industry and is also gaining appreciation from the critics. But since the movie is competing with Hrithik Rohan’s Kaabil at the box office, comparisons between the two are bound to happen.

From SRK’s kajal to his pathani suits, everything about this film is bang on point. In fact, the dialogues, trailer and songs, are the USP of this film and has raised the expectation bar a lot higher.

The other highlight of the film is Sunny Leone’s ‘Laila Main Laila‘ song in Raees, which has an important role in taking the film’s story forward. Sunny’s performance was praised by all the big wigs of the industry and the audience also went crazy after watching the song.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, Raees is set in the backdrop of Gujarat in the 80s and also marks the Bollywood debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan. While Shah Rukh will be seen portraying the character of a wicked bootlegger Raees Alam, Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be playing the role of a cop whose sole motive is to put him behind the bars.

While the movie is being termed an all-rounder entertainer by the audiences, here’s what the critics have to say about Raees:

Taran Adarsh, Trade Analyst and Film Critic:

Raees is a sure-shot hit. To state that SRK is sensational would be an understatement. The performances are consistently remarkable. Shah Rukh is the scene-stealer as well as the show-stealer. As far as the BO is concerned, there’s no stopping this one. An outright winner. Just don’t miss it!

Rahul Desai, Film Critic

This film is nothing more than a misdirected medium for Shah Rukh Khan to retreat back into the warm embrace of star-driven vehicles. Raees ends up as a film that is just about mediocre enough to pass off as ‘mainstream’.

Umair Sandhu, Overseas Film Critic

Well, after such great reviews this film deserves to be on your must watch list!
