Uh oh! Samsung Galaxy S8 is beautiful, until you accidentally drop it

Would you buy Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone?

Korean tech giant created a wave of excitement around the world when it unveiled its flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in March this year. The launch was followed by an increase in pre-orders of the two devices across the globe. As the Galaxy S8 mania hit the market, experts subjected the two devices to a series of tests to test their durability and the results that they got will astonish you.

According to SquareTrade, a company that sells gadget-repair plans, the screens of Samsung’s latest devices are beautiful but not durable. The company subjected the two smartphones to a series of standard tests, that involve a set of robots dropping the device, tumbling it and dunking it in water, and noted that Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ performed significantly worse than their predecessors.

The video noted that the Galaxy S8 was the first smartphone that cracked on all the sides in the first drop exposing users to loose glass and starburst cracks.  The back of the devices saw spider webbing and starburst cracks when it was dropped on its back as a part of the second test. The tumble test exposed the front camera and loosened the glass apart from exposing the screen to spider webbing cracks.

According to the company, Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are protected by IP68 protection. However, when the S8 was dropped in 5 feet deep water for 30 mins, it experienced audio muffling and distortion. The phone was also subjected to repairability tests which revealed that the phone comes with a tough adhesive seal and a rigid battery, which makes it difficult to be repaired.

Interestingly, the company noted that despite the Note 7 fiasco, almost 89 percent of the Samsung users had a positive opinion of the brand and nearly 36 percent users said that they would buy S8 in six months.

Bottom line, Samsung Galaxy S8 is good till you drop it!
