Emporio Armani to launch Android Wear smartwatch in September

Luxury brand Emporio Armani is launching its Android Wear smartwatch in September this year. The company had launched its line of hybrid smart watches in October last year and now the company is entering the mainstream smartwatch market by making watches that will be powered by Google’s Android Wear 2.0 smartwatch operating system. Armani had announced its intentions of entering the smart watch market earlier this year and the brand has now graced us with a glimpse of its upcoming smartwatch at Milan Fashion Week.

The new smartwatch will come with customizable watch faces and touch screen functionality and it will be available with interchangeable strap options. The watch will not only track your fitness levels but also give you message notifications. Additionally, you will also be able to control music on your smartphone using your smartwatch. However, you will have to pair it up with an app from the Play Store to use it.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Emporio Armani Connected will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor and feature an AMOLED display. Though the screen resolution of the smartwatch has not been revealed yet, it likely to sport high screen resolution. The pricing of the watch is not known yet but it is likely to cost more than its hybrid smart watches which are priced between $200 (Rs 13,000 approx) and $375 (Rs 24,000 approx).

Fossil will be making the smart watch for Armani and the smartwatch will be released on September 14. According to 9To5 Google, the brand will open the watch for sale on September 24, 2017. Meanwhile, the Italian fashion house has team up Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes to launch its first collection of Android smartwatches.
