In one of the most bizarre cases, a man in Bengaluru was forced to drive the Uber cab after realising that the driver was drunk. When the driver reached the pick-up location, which was Kempegowda International Airport, Surya Oruganti was shocked seeing a badly drunk driver.
Another shocking moment for Surya was that the driver was different from the one on the app. However, Surya decided to drive himself and also clicked pictures of the driver which he posted on Twitter.
“@Uber_India, the ride back from Bangalore airport was not quite what I expected. The driver was drunk and drowsy. I had to pull the car over to the side and I drove all the way home. Pic with the driver in the rider seat passed out. You need to fix this @Uber, @Uber_Support,” Surya tweeted.

In its response, Uber tweeted:
This is concerning, Surya. Please share your registered email ID and phone number through which you have requested this trip so that our safety team can get in touch with you at the earliest.

Uber India customer service called Surya after almost 20 hours, as per his tweet.
Uber safety team promptly called back about 20 hours later. They said I shouldn’t drive a cab because that’s a safety issue. And that they’ll educate the driver whatever that means and might terminate the driver if there’s recurrence.#sorrynotsorry @UberINSupport @Uber_India

I had a similar problem earlier. I really feel the pain of the passenger. The main problem is lack of good local transport in bangalore. This is the root cause. All cab drivers are over worked without rest, they also need some rest which currently is not happening.
